Nigerian Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Care (NJPNC) Top

The Nigerian Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Care (NJPNC) is an English multidisciplinary peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes articles in the field of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine. It is the official publication of the Nigerian Society of Neonatal Medicine (NISONM). The aims are:

  1. To provide an outlet for sound academic and scientific research from promising budding as well as established perinatal and neonatal physicians and researchers across the globe.
  2. To provide a repository of up-to-date, evidence based scientific information for standard perinatal and neonatal care in Nigeria. This would encourage dissemination of scientific information on current, topical neonatal and perinatal issues to improve the care of preterm and term infants.
Journal Scope: Top

Manuscripts will be considered for publication under the following sections: editorial comments, original and review articles, short report, case reports, letters to the editor, and book reviews. Articles will be accepted from all aspects of neonatal and perinatal care; neurology, respiratory disorders, haematology, cardiology, preventive neonatology, congenital malformations, genetics/inborn errors of metabolism, endocrinology, gastroenterology and medical ethics

To be a leading source of research information to drive perinatal and neonatal care of global standards in Nigeria, to provide an avenue for increased visibility of neonatal and perinatal practitioners and researchers from the west African sub-region and to develop a journal that meets global academic standards.

Editorial policy Top

The policy of our journal refers to the guidelines in the publication procedure. The Nigerian Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Care subscribes and adheres to the standard requirements of the following:

Publication ethics. Top

The journal is particularly strict on publication ethics with specific instructions on research ethical approvals, individual and institutional consent to publish submitted data, plagiarism and declaration of conflicts of interest.
Confidentiality: All submitted manuscripts are confidential documents. NJPNC will not disclose submitted manuscript to anyone except individuals who partake in the processing and preparation of the manuscript for publication (if accepted). These individuals include editorial staff, corresponding authors, potential reviewers, actual reviewers, and editors. Although cases of suspected misconduct in a manuscript may be revealed to members of NJPNC ethics committee and the institution that requires it for the resolution of misconduct, NJPNC will follow the appropriate COPE flowchart when the need arises.

Corrections and retraction articles Top

Only editors of NJPNC may authorise corrections to a published article. Editors will decide the magnitude of the corrections. Minor corrections are made directly to the original article. However, in cases of major corrections, the original article will remain unchanged, while the corrected version will also be published. Both the original and corrected version will be linked to each other. A statement indicating the reason for the major change to the article will also be published. When the need arises articles will be retracted based on COPE retraction guidelines
